Father John Misty Seattle Concert reviews
What a great show.
The opening act could have done an end of episode number for Latest Twin Peaks if David Lynch had noticed her before booking someone else pretty ethereal. Father John is the real deal and one helluva poetic straight from the heart and soul to the throat vocalist and plays decent guitar. The band was phenomenal along with the stage design/ light crew. I have seen a lot of shows in my days. Being 16 in 1966 and catching as many acts as possible throughout the years I have become fairly picky about who I seek out to pay and see. I had caught FJ Misty on SNL and was intrigued. I figured it would be interesting but Instead of interesting it was unfreakin believable. The experience still seems a bit unreal to me. From the first number to the encore It heralded me back to Doors Concert I caught live in Detroit right after Kent State went down in May of 1970 only if Morrison had gotten clean and sober before his crash and burn. The crowd was close to fanatical but behaved enough that security didn't sense any danger or need to cler the isles. Father John Misty is perhaps the best writer, soulful singing showman presently out performing in small medium size venues at this time in space and his band is right on his ass with ever move and musical inflection. Catch em' if and while you can before the word really gets out. Hell they will probably get asked to open for the Stones. if available and willing. if they don't look out. Don't pass this show up even if you have to travel far and wide. Nothing is forever. Peace.
